Tips On Keeping Your Tile And Grout Clean

1 September, 2010 (15:41) | Tile Cleaning

Tile floors are wonderful. They’re easy to keep clean, they’re durable and tough, and they look good for a long, long time. There’s only one drawback: grout. In short, grout is tile’s “Achilles heel.” When tile floors don’t look good, it’s usually because the grout has become stained. So, can grout be revived once it’s gone bad? Sure, it can.

Most of the time, grout becomes stained because it was either not properly sealed with a grout sealant when the tile was put down or because the sealant has worn off with time. Many of today’s tile installers never properly seal tile and it’s a big problem. It’s like a painter who won’t take the time to caulk.

Cleaning and sealing grout can be very time consuming, especially when one lacks the proper chemicals and equipment. Grout cleaning specialists use some of the best chemicals and top of the line machines, and are able to get the entire cleaning job done much faster. Also, professional grade grout cleaning machines have powerful suction that can eliminate more harmful dirt and bacteria. Maybe some chemicals are the best products for cleaning the grout from tiles, but most of the cleaning companies and even the ordinary housewives use green domestic cleaning products like vinegar, baking soda, lime juice and etc.
